Woman charged with selling marijuana

FPS staff report

A traffic stop in Sherrodsville by Carroll County sheriff’s deputies Nov. 28 resulted in the drug arrest of a New Philadelphia woman.

According to Carroll County Sheriff Dale R. Williams, Lauren R. Wisintainer, 18, of 146 4th St. SW, New Philadelphia was taken into custody without incident during the traffic stop after she allegedly sold marijuana during an undercover drug buy operation.

Sheriff Williams said narcotics officers were able to recover additional marijuana, drug abuse items and U. S. currency when a search of Wisintainer’s vehicle was conducted.

Subsequently, she has been charged by sheriff’s deputies with trafficking in marijuana, a 4th degree felony, since there was a juvenile present in the vehicle when the drugs were sold. The drug transaction also took place in the vicinity of a school. Wisintainer’s vehicle was seized and is subject to forfeiture, the Sheriff noted.

At a bond hearing held Dec. 1 before Carroll County Municipal Court Judge Charles A. Johnston, Wisintainer was released on a $10,000 recognizance bond and a hearing is set for this Wednesday afternoon.
