Preliminary hearing set for Perry Twp. couple

FPS staff report

A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 1:45 p.m. in Carroll County Municipal Court for a Perry Twp. couple charged with growing marijuana in their home.

James W. Moyers and his wife, Nancy C. Moyers, both 56, of 8091 Scio Rd., Scio, were released on $50,000 recognizance bonds each at a bond hearing held Dec. 9 before Carroll County Municipal Court Judge Charles A. Johnston.

The Moyers’ are charged by Carroll County sheriff’s deputies with trafficking in marijuana and cultivation of marijuana, both 3rd degree felonies. The couple was taken into custody by Carroll County sheriff’ deputies Dec. 8 after narcotics officers executed a search warrant issued by Judge Johnston.

Once inside, officers found an indoor marijuana growing operation, four large marijuana plants, processed marijuana, packing material, drug abuse instruments, growing equipment and several firearms which were confiscated by deputies.
