Threat taken seriously by Carrollton Schools

FPS staff report

A verbal threat made by a Bell-Herron Middle School student Thursday was taken seriously by Carrollton Schools officials.

Dr. David Quattrochi said Friday morning school officials were made aware of the threat and it was turned over immediately to law enforcement agencies and the student was removed from school.

“When we found out about the threat, we notified the county prosecutor and began proceedings through juvenile court,” he told The Free Press Standard. “The problem was taken care of yesterday, but as a precautionary measure, Carrollton police and county sheriff deputies were placed in all school buildings this morning. Also a metal detector was brought temporarily into Bell-Herron Middle School.”

Parents with students in Carrollton Schools were notified by phone this morning of the matter.
