Warrior baseball falls to Alliance twice

FPS staff report

Because of rain last Saturday, the Carrollton varsity baseball team was only able to play two games last week.

They fell twice to Alliance, 9-1 last Tuesday at Alliance and 8-0 last Thursday at the Field of Dreams in Carrollton.

After the two losses, the Warriors record stood at 9-10 overall and 3-6 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.

"Our errors are hurting us as a team," said head coach Ken Pasiuk. "We need to stop booting the ball around the field and start playing better defense."

Last Tuesday, the Warriors'only run came on a RBI double by senior Mike Tekip in the top of the seventh inning.

Brock Hutchison, Erick Myers and A. J. Atkinson combined for the loss. They gave up 10 hits, walked three and struckout two.

Last Thursday, Carrollton was held to just three hits in the game - a pair of singles by senior Josh Graham and a single by senior Colt Newell.

Graham started and pitched into the sixth inning before giving way to junior Ronnie Hepner.

Graham struck out eight, walked seven and gave up five hits.

Hepner pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave one hit and walked two.

The Warriors will begin Sectional tournament play Tuesday, May 13. Carrollton is in the lower bracket will play Beaver Local at 4:30 p.m. at Vaccaro Field in Steubenville.

If victorious, Carrollton will play Cambridge, Indian Creek or Meadowbrook on Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m. Cambridge has a bye to begin the sectional and will play the winner of the Indian Creek-Meadowbrook game.
