Groff expected to be named SV grid coach

FPS staff report

Longtime Sandy Valley coach John Groff is expected to be hired as the new Cardinal head football coach at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.

Coach Groff has been a teacher and head wrestling coach at Sandy Valley for the past 31 years.

Coach Groff is a 1969 graduate of Fairless and a 1973 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College where he played football and is a member Baldwin-Wallace Hall of Fame. He received his masters degree in 1988 from Ashland University.

Coach Gross was the head football coach at Malvern from 1974-76 and has been on the Cardinal staff since 1977.

Gross resides in the Sandy Valley area with his wife Crystie and five children - Sammy, Mavis, Joel, Jesse and Charles.
