The Carrollton varsity softball team is on the home stretch of their season.
At the beginning of play this week, the Lady Warriors had five games left on their schedule.
They were to host Northwest Tuesday, Alliance Thursday and travel to Edison Local Friday.
Next week, the Warriors will host West Branch Tuesday and travel to Louisville Thursday to end their regular season.
Last week, Carrollton played three games, all Northeastern Buckeye Conference contests, winning one and dropping two.
Their record now stands at 7-11 overall and 3-7 in the NBC.
Last Tuesday, the Lady Warriors defeated visiting Marlington 4-0.
Senior Amber Williamson pitched a complete game shutout for the Warriors.
She gave up just three hits, while striking out two and walking one.
Freshman Miranda DeGarmo and Williamson each had a single and RBI for the Warriors, while Brooke Kean added a double.
Carrollton scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Last Wednesday, visiting Canton South scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning for a 6-4 NBC win.
Williamson took the loss. She gave up nine hits, struckout four and walked two.
Williamson also had a double at the plate, while senior Kelly Stoneman, Miranda DeGarmo and sophomore Tait Carter each added a single.
Last Thursday at Minerva, the Warriors dropped a tough 1-0 decision to the Lady Lions.
Minerva scored its lone run in the top of the fourth inning.
Carter pitched a strong game in taking the loss. She gave up three hits, struck out five and walked three.
Freshman Lexi Sheets and Stoneman each had a double and single, while Miranda DeGarmo added a single.
The Warriors will begin sectional play this Saturday against New Philadelphia at the Carrollton Field of Dreams at 11 a.m.
The winner will meet No. 1 seed Claymont next Monday at 5 p.m. |
