Kirk, Bates named Jim Pyles scholarship recipients

Jim Pyles Scholarship recipientsCarrollton 2009 grads Austin Kirk and Chelsea Bates are the first recipients of the Jim Pyles Ohio State University Scholarship.

Austin is the son of Dan and Val Kirk of Carrollton and plans to major in Environment and Natural Resources at OSU.

Chelsea, daughter of Michelle and Eric Roberts of Carrollton, will major in Audiology. Full Story



Tidal Waves pick up first win

The Carrollton/Salem Tidal Waves swim team won its first meet of the season recently against Alliance at Alliance.

The results are as follows:
Girls 100 Free 18 and under - 2. Dusty Bake (1:05.81), 4. Ellie Schlueter (1:25.47).
Boys 100 Free 18 and under – 1. A. J. Birone (1:04.60), 3. Travis Bake (1:19.73).
Mixed 100 Medley Relay 8 and under – 1. Olivia Costello, Sadie Pozderac, Mackenzie Shroyer and Kyla Jamison (2:15.73).
Mixed 100 Medley Relay 10 and under – 2. Lauren Ferrell, Cami Birone, Emma Birong, Nicole Latessa (1:34.22), Kasey Jamison, Alicia Costello, 3. Daniel Costello, Heather Daugherty (1:50.34). Full Story


Consumers goes 12-0 on season

FPS staff report

The Consumers National Bank B-League softball team wrapped up their regular season with a perfect 12-0 record.

On June 15, Consumers defeated the Willen Warriors 11-8 at Dellroy.

Brooke Keane led Consumers with four hits, including a double, while Lexi Sheets added two triples and Tasha Lanka had a pair of singles.

Sheets got the win for Consumers as she struck out 17, allowed three hits and walked 11.

Next was an 11-6 win over the Willen Warriors on June 16 at Malvern. Full Story
