Conotton Valley 75, Strasburg 73 (OT)
The Rockets’ Brandon Bailey poured in 36 points to lead Conotton Valley to a 75-73 win over visiting Strasburg last Tuesday night in overtime.
The win improved the Rockets to 3-1 for the year and 1-1 in the Inter-Valley Conference.
Shawn Bailey pulled down 12 rebounds for the Rockets.
Hunter Schneiter led the Tigers with 24 points and Lance Dillehay added 12.
Last Friday night, Brandon Bailey had another huge game for the Rockets as he poured in 32 points, including going 10-for-10 from the foul line to lead the Rockets to a 72-66 win over Tuscarawas Central Catholic.
Nick Galigher also had a big night for CV, finishing with 17 points, which also included a 12-of-16 night from the line. Shawn Bailey added 13 points for the Rockets.
In all, the Rockets hit 29-of-37 shots from the charity stripe.
The Saints led 16-6 after the first quarter, but the Rockets rallied in the second to tie the game at 26-26 at halftime and led 48-43 going into the final quarter.
Jimmy Fickes led the Saints with 20 points, while Brandon Sweet and Jimmy Tolloti finished with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Malvern 80, Sandy Valley 41
Malvern junior Travis Tucci led four Malvern players in double figures as the Hornets defeated rival Sandy Valley 80-41 last Tuesday night at Malvern.
Tucci finished with 24 points, including going 11-for-13 at the foul line. Sophomore Max Kapron added 16 points and seven rebounds, Clay Davis had 13 points and Shawn Ball 12 points for the Hornets, who improved to 2-1 in the Inter-Valley Conference and 3-1 overall.
The Hornets led 20-7 after the first quarter, 43-20 at halftime and 66-29 at the end of the third period.
Shooting, the Hornets hit 29-of-48 action shots and 18-of-25 free throws.
For the winless Cardinals, Cole Lutz led the way with 11 points.
Sandy Valley was 17-of-46 from the floor and 3-of-11 from the line.
Last Friday night, host Garaway broke open a close game in the third quarter and defeated the Hornets 59-48 in a big IVC contest.
Travis Tucci and Kapron led the Hornets with 12 points each, while Trey Tucci added nine.
Garaway led 16-13 after the first quarter, and the contest was tied at 31-31 at halftime.
The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game as Garaway outscored the Hornets 12-4 to take a 43-35 advantage into the final quarter.
Malvern hit what shots they got, going 17-for-31 from the field and 8-of-16 from the line.
The Pirate defense forced 23 Malvern turnovers.
Duane Troyer led the Pirates with 24 points, who remain undefeated on the year. They were to play undefeated Hiland Tuesday night for the top spot in the IVC.
Alliance 46, Minerva 43
Alliance outscored visiting Minerva 11-2 in the final period in rallying for the 46-43 Northeastern Buckeye Conference win last Friday night.
The Aviators trailed by six points going into the fourth quarter.
Mike Mayle led the Lions with 14 points, while Andre Spinell added 13.
Denzell Faulk led the Aviators with 13 points and Vernon Martin added 12.
Minerva led 17-13 after the first quarter, 30-25 and 41-35 going into the final quarter of play. |
