Malvern 56, East Canton 45
The Hornets jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 56-45 win over host East Canton last Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Junior Travis Tucci paced the Hornets with 20 points, while sophomore Max Kapron added 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Junior Shawn Ball also hit double figures with 13 points.
The Hornets led 15-6 at the end of the first quarter and expanded the lead to 29-13 at the intermission. Malvern led 44-25 at the end of the third quarter.
Tusky Valley 53, Sandy Valley 36
The Cardinals fell behind early and couldn’t catch up in falling to visiting Tusky Valley in their season opener last Friday night.
Cody Stotzer led the Trojans with 14 points, Clayton Patton added 13 and Clay Shetler 12 points.
Zach Schlimm led the Cardinals with 11 points and six rebounds.
Tusky Valley led 13-7 after the first quarter, 27-19 at halftime and 43-27 after three quarters of play.
St. Thomas Aquinas 57, Minerva 50
A huge third quarter propelled St. Thomas Aquinas to a 57-50 win over Minerva last Friday night in the season opener for both squads at St. Thomas.
The Knights outscored the Lions 22-10 to take control of the game.
Connor Duplin led the Knights with a game-high 25 points, 13 in the third quarter. Sean Dempsey added 16 points and seven assists, while Tyler Moeglin added 12.
Eli Maurer led the Lions with 17 points and Mike Mayle added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Thomas led 11-10 after the first quarter, but the Lions rallied in the second to take a 26-21 advantage at halftime. |
