Malvern gets by Central in OT

Malvern 52, Tuscarawas Central Catholic 49 (OT)
The Hornets’ Travis Tucci scored three points in overtime to lead Malvern to the sectional championship last Saturday night at the New Philadelphia Division IV sectional tournament.

Malvern led 20-11 after the first quarter, 30-20 at halftime, 38-29 going into the final frame.

The Saints outscored the Hornets 20-11 in the final period to tie the game at 49-49 at the end of regulation.

Tucci led the Hornets with 21 points, while Max Kapron added 13 points and 16 rebounds and Sean Kettering had 12 points.

Malvern was to play Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans Tuesday night at Meadowbrook.

Tyler Sunderlin led the Saints with 16 points, 12 in the fourth quarter.

Claymont  65, Minerva 43
The Mustangs’ 6-foot-7 center, Daniel Wise, scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Claymont to the sectional win last Monday night at the Coshocton Division II sectional.

The Lions kept within scoring distance for three quarters, but Claymont opened the final frame with a 13-0 run to put the game away.
Senior Brian Harp led the Lions with 13 points.
