The Carrollton Lady Warriors opened their 2009-10 season with a 61-45 loss to host Dover last Friday night.
Sophomore Tessa Sanders had a big game for the Warriors as she scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Tornadoes led 17-13 after the first quarter, 33-23 at the intermission and 45-31 going into the final frame.
Carrollton had a total of 16 field goals and shot well from the free throw line by hitting 8-of-13 charity shots.
Tessa Hammond led the Tornadoes with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Rian Lorenz added five points and nine boards. Ashlee Alsept chipped in with 15 points.
Dover was 19-of-45 from the floor and 18-of-23 from the line. They out rebounded the Warriors 31-26. Carrollton turned the ball over 24 times, while the Tornadoes finished with 19 turnovers.

Minerva 53, Fairless 33
Three Minerva Lady Lions scored in double figures as the Lions opened their season with a big road win.
Junior Chelsie Butler led the way with 18 points, while Taylor Maurer followed with 15, including four three pointers. Kassidy Hardgrove added 14, including 5-of-6 free throws.
Courtney McMahan led the Falcons with seven points and Ellie Manack pulled down seven rebounds.
Minerva led 16-8 at the end of the first quarter, 36-22 at halftime and 43-27 at the end of the third quarter.
Tusky Valley 70, Sandy Valley 42
Tusky Valley got 20 points from Shannon Watson and Paige Ricketts added 15 and Sara Tucker 13 as Tusky Valley rolled over the Lady Cardinals in the season opener for both teams last Saturday at Sandy Valley.
Carli Nicholson led the Cardinals with 12 points and Brittney Tindall chipped in with 11. |
