FPS Staff report

Carrollton High School wrestling
Senior Josh Miller earned a hard fought 4-2 decision over Louisville's Travis Gray last Thursday night at Louisville.

The Carrollton varsity wrestling was issued a 44-30 setback last Thursday night at Louisville in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference dual match.

The Leopards won eight matches and the Warriors six.

The Warriors recorded four pins and two decisions.

Senior Josh Miller (171) got the Warriors off to a good start by winning a 4-2 decision over Travis Gray. Senior heavy weight Kevin Malone pinned Joe Neff in 1:54 and freshman 103-pounder Joey Miller got the Warriors’ second pin of the night over Dakota Oliver in 1:50.

Senior Robbie Wilson pulled in six points for Carrollton by pinning Joe Stoffer in 4:44 in the 130-pound match, and Seth Jones followed with a 10-8 decision over Nick Katich in the 135-pound bout. The Warriors’ final win of the night came in the 160-pound match when senior Curt Kline pinned Logan Kenkel in 3:19.

Last Saturday, the Warriors took part in the West Holmes tournament where they placed sixth out of ten teams with 138.5 points.

Carrollton had one champion crowned as heavy weight Kevin Malone went 5-0 in the tournament.

Placing second for the Warriors were Joey Miller, (103, 3-1), and Seth Jones (135, 3-1). Placing third was Josh Miller (171, 3-1), placing fourth was Dolvin (215, 2-3), placing fifth was Wilson (130, 2-2) and Alex Poole (189, 2-2), and placing sixth was Codie Poole (152, 1-3).

“I was very happy with all of my wrestlers this week,” said head coach Ken Pasiuk.  “They wrestled tough against a senior loaded Louisville team and performed well at West Holmes.  Our wrestlers appear to be peeking at the right time.”

The Warriors will host Marlington Thursday night and end their regular season next Thursday at Minerva.

Carrollton will begin its run for state Feb. 19 at the Buckeye Local Division II Sectional Tournament.

The District Tournament will be held the following weekend at Claymont High School.
