Senior Seth Dolvin pinned Dennis Parson in 2:55 to win the 215-pound mathch last Thursday against Canton South.

It was close, each team won seven matches, but visiting Canton South came out ahead by one point, 40-39, last Thursday night in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference dual meet.

Carrollton recorded six pins and a decision, while Canton South had five pins, a major decision and a forfeit.

For Carrollton, Joey Miller (112) pinned Walker Catlett in 57-seconds; Seth Jones (135) pinned Josh Herron in 4:54, Luke Galbraith (152) pinned Gust Malavite in 1:01, Conrad Burns (171) pinned Matt Edgell in 3:29, Alex Poole (189) pinned Chris Stewart in 1:32, and Seth Dolvin (215) pinned Dennis Parson in 2:55.

Warrior Logan Krell won the 140-pound weight class with a 7-0 decision over Jamey Herron.

Over the weekend, the Warriors took part in the 51st annual North Canton Hoover Wrestling Tournament at North Canton Hoover High School.

As a team, Carrollton finished tied for 22nd out of 39 teams with 52 points.

“We are getting closer and closer to having our full line-up together with everyone healthy and in the right weight classes”, said head coach Chad Hilliard. “It is going to be a great test for our team.”

The Warriors had one wrestler reach the finals. Sophomore Joey Miller finished second in the 112-weight class.

Miller went 4-1 in the tournament, recording three pins and a major decision.

He fell in the championship match to Conner Schram of Canon McMillan High School from Pennsylvania.

“He (Miller) is getting better every day, and having tough competition is helping Joey to realize his hard work is paying off,” said Hilliard.

Team captains Seth Dolvin (215) and Seth Jones (135) each wrestled well and finished with two wins each. Both won both matches on Friday night, but failed to make the finals on Saturday night.

The Warriors will take part in the Wheeling Park Duals Dec. 27 and 28 at Wheeling Park High School.

They begin the New Year on the road at Alliance on Jan. 6.
