FPS staff report

Carrollton High School volleyball Brooke Keane
The Warriors Brooke Keane makes a block during their match with Coshocton last Saturday.

The season didn’t start of the way first year head coach Amanda Kohler had hoped.

The Lady Warriors hosted Edison Local and Coshocton in back-to-back dual matches Saturday.

Carrollton fell to both visiting teams.

Carrollton opened against Coshocton falling 25-23, 25-22 and 25-20.

Even though the scoreboard tipped the Redskin way, the Warriors, for the most part, played solid ball for their first outing of the season.

Liza Kirk recorded three aces, while Mackenzie Hess and Tessa Sanders each had four kills. Taylor Lowdermilk had five digs and Sadie Myers seven assists.

In their match against Edison Local, the Wildcats defeated the Warriors in four close games, 25-21, 24-26, 25-22 and 25-19.

For Carrollton, Lowdermilk had six aces, Sanders seven kills, Hess and Brittany Wilson four digs each and Myers and Kirk 10 assists each.

In junior varsity action, the Warriors split their matches. They fell to Coshocton in three games, 26-16, 16-25 and 22-25, but rebounded to defeat Edison in two games, 25-22 and 25-11.

Against Coshocton, Addie Davis had seven points and four kills, while Rebecca Grunder added three kills. Taylor Eddy finished with 21 digs.

Against Edison, Laiton Carter led the way with nine points, Grunder recorded five kills, and Eddy 14 digs.
