The Lady Warriors varsity softball team wrapped up its regular season play last Friday on a high note as they defeated visiting Canton South 2-1.
Carrollton ends with an overall record of 14-13 and 6-8 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.
The loss dropped the Wildcats to 10-15 for the year and 4-8 in the NBC.
“This was a nice win for us,” said head coach Janet Sheets. “It put us over the.500 mark for the season and a good way to end our season.”
The game was tied at 1-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Junior Miranda DeGarmo delivered a run scoring single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Warriors the victory.
Senior Tait Carter picked up the win with two innings of relief work for starter Bethany Sevek. Carter gave up one hit and struck out four, while Sevek allowed just four hits with two strikeouts.
Carla Adams and Brook Keane each had a pair of singles. Lexi Sheets added a double and Kieley Dulaney a single.
Shavon Robinson drove in the Wildcats’ only run with a triple in the fifth inning.
The Warriors finished with seven hits and the Wildcats five. |
