The Carrollton girls track team made it two in a row with a convincing 76-52 win over the host Alliance Aviators last Wednesday.
The Warriors won nine events, placed second in seven events and had nine third place finishes.
“This was a good meet for us,” said head coach Larry Cogan. “We had a lot of girls step up and score points.”
Senior Hillary Galbraith had four first places finishes and senior Samantha Fitzpatrick three, while Julia Darling, April Sisk and Mary Jo Brown claimed two each.
Placing first were the 3,200-meter relay team of Brown, Sadye Myers, Katelyn Jacobson and Fitzpatrick with a time of 11:36; the 400-meter relay team of Ketchum, Renee Davis, Darling and Galbraith with a time of 56.7; the 1,600-meter relay team of Galbraith, Fitzpatrick, Jacque Kennedy and Roni Atkinson with a time of 5:39; Darling in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.7, Fitzpatrick in the 400 with a time of 1:06.7, Galbraith in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.4 and the long jump with a leap of 14’ 21/2” and April Sisk in the shot and discus with throws of 33’ and 98’ 2”.
Placing second were Davis in the 100 and 300 hurdles with times of 18.72 and 56.4, Brown in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46, Jacobson in the 3,200 with a time of 13:51, Fitzpatrick in the high jump with a jump of 4’ 10” and Chelsea Williams in the shot and discus with throws of 30’ 11” and 92’ 1”.
Placing third were Chelsea Wiltfang in the 100 and 300 hurdles with times of 18.75 and 57.34, Jacobson in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:20, Kennedy in the 400 with a time of 1:11, Myers in the 800 with a time of 2:52, Jasmine Bell in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 14:11, Rebecca Soisson and Christina Schrader in the high jump with jumps of 4; 8”, Darling in the long jump with a 12’ 51/2” and Tailer Williams in the shot and discus with throws of 27’ 4” and 89’ 8”.

In the boys meet, the Aviators defeated the Warriors 72-56.
“We scored a lot more points and ran a lot better,” noted Cogan. “We just want to keep getting better each week.”
Placing first for Carrollton was Jacob Husted in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs with time of 5:11 and 11:21, Colin Davis in the 400 with a time of 54.0, Brandon Walker in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.0, Rob Smith in the 800 with a time of 2:13, the 3,200-meter relay team of Kyle Baker, Eric Manzella, Smith and Davis with a time of 9:28 and the 1,600-meter relay team of Adam Young, Joey Harter, Smith and Davis with a time of 3:52.
Placing second were Walker in the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.6, Young in the 400 with a time of 56.7, Manzella in the 800 with a time of 2:16, Davis in the high jump with a jump of 5’ 4”, Luke Baker in the discus with a throw of 111’ 11” and Robert Kettering in the shot with a throw of 39’ 8”.
Placing third were Hunter Hickman in the 110 and 300 hurdles with times of 17.7 and 45.4, and Lewis Massey in the 1,600 with a time of 5:23.
Last Thursday, the boys took part in the New Philadelphia mini relays where they placed fourth overall out of five teams with 40 points.
“It was a fun meet to get everyone involved,” Cogan said.
The 4x1,600 and 4x800 meter relay teams of Davis, Baker, Smith and Manzella finished first with times of 20:13 and 9:01.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Walker, Dan Irwin, Robert Hartong and Hickman finished in second place with a time of 1:09.
Carrollton had two third place finishes, the discus team of Kettering, Luke Baker and Eric Brown with combined throws of 296’3” and the distance medley team of Connor McLean, Aaron Carmin, Harter and Husted with a time of 8:55.2. |
