At a special meeting last Friday morning, the Minerva Board of Education hired Perry High School offensive coordinator Mike Hall as its new head football coach.
Hall has been an assistant coach at Perry the past seven years running the wing-t offense.
His previous coaching experience was at Wickliffe High School from 1992-2003, the last five as head coach.
As head coach at Wickliffe, Hall took his teams to the state playoff five times, including the regional finals in 1999.
“The selection committee made a great choice,” said Minerva Athletic Director Don Spinell. “I am confident that Coach Hall will carry on the great tradition of Minerva football.”
Hall is a 1987 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and graduated from Kent State University with a degree in mathematics in 1992.
Besides coaching football, Hall was also a head baseball coach and assistant wrestling coach at Perry.
Hall lives in Massillon with his wife Sandy, who is a special education teacher at Perry.
Hall replaces Dale Soles, who resigned at the end of the season after two seasons as the Lions head coach. |
