Malvern’s Lady Hornets pull in win over Sandy Valley in IVC play

Malvern 42, Sandy Valley 32
The Lady Hornets’ Logan Smalley poured in a game-high 17 points to lead Malvern to a 42-32 Inter-Valley Conference win over visiting Sandy Valley.
Ashley Patterson went 6-for-6 from the line and finished with 14 points for the Hornets.

The Cardinals were led by Mercedes Bowling with 11 points and Courtney Huffman grabbed 12 rebounds.

Malvern led 10-9 after the first quarter, 23-19 at halftime and 35-25 going into the final frame.

Last Saturday, the Hornets fell to 3-2 for the year and 2-2 in the IVC after being defeated by host Garaway 59-27.

Smalley and Kyra Wadsworth each had eight points for the Hornets. Garaway led 19-7 after the first quarter, 30-10 at halftime and 43-17 with eight minutes left to play.

Anya Misko led the Lady Pirates with 21 points and 15 rebounds and Karissa Swihart added 16 points.

Strasburg 53, Conotton Valley 35
The game was close after the first quarter with Strasburg holding just a 10-8 advantage. However, the visiting Lady Tigers pulled away in the second quarter and cruised to a 53-35 win over Conotton Valley.
Olivia Bower and Brynlynn Belknap led the Rockets with 10 points each.
Kearstyn Moore led the Tigers with 18 points, while Mikayla Johnson added 10.

Sandy Valley 71, Heritage Christian 13
The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 26-6 lead at the end of the first quarter in rolling over visiting Heritage Christian 71-13 in a non-league game last Saturday.
Courtney Huffman led the Cardinals with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Mercedes Bowling just missed double figures, scoring eight points.
Sandy Valley led 39-8 at halftime and 61-8 at the end of the third.
