Lady Warrior golfers fourth at sectional; gain trip to districts

FPS staff report

The Carrollton Lady Warriors golf team placed fourth at last Wednesday’s Division II Sectional golf tournament at the River Greens Golf Course to advance to the District Tournament at the Pickaway Country Club in Circleville this past Monday.

The top five teams in the tournament advance to district play along with the top five individuals from a non-qualifying team.

The Warriors finished with a 387, one stroke behind third place Minerva, which shot a 386.

Sara Truman shot a 93 to lead the Warriors, while Lael Shields shot a 94, Elizabeth Domer a 96, (including a pair of birdies), Anna Truman a 104 and Olivia Albrecht a 107.

Strasburg won the tournament with a 360 with Claymont second at 366. Garaway was the fifth qualifying team to advance with a 388. A total of 11 teams took part in the tournament.

Shelby Thompson of Claymont was the individual medalist. She finished the 18-hole tournament with a 73.

Five teams from the Central District and two teams from the Southeast District were also to take part in the district tournament.
