It was another nice week of golf for the Carrollton boys team as they picked up two more Northeastern Buckeye Conference wins to improve to 7-1 in league play and 8-3 overall.
Last Tuesday, the Warriors were at Edgewater Golf Course to take on the Minerva Lions.
The match was never close as the Warriors won by 12 strokes 174-186.
Cale Pozderac led the Warriors with a 41 with Tyler Shuman firing a 43, Troy Fairclough and Jan Mailander, foreign exchange student from Germany, each a 45. Mason Albrecht followed with a 47 and Luke Cosart a 50.
“I was a little worried about Minerva because they have been playing some very good golf at home,” said head coach Gary Cogan. “I told the team that in order for us to repeat as league champions we have to win all of our home matches and win most of our away matches. We have done that.”
Last Wednesday, the Warriors avenged their only league loss last season by defeating Alliance with a season low score of 163-186 at Sleepy Hollow. The Warriors fell to the Aviators last season at Sleepy Hollow on the back nine, which is where the Warriors and Aviators played last year.
“The guys really played well on a tough course that they were not familiar with,” Cogan said.
Pozderac was low for the Warriors with a 38, while Albrecht and Fairclough each shot a 41. Shuman ended with g a 43 and Cosart a 50 and Mailander a 51.
In junior varsity action last week, the Warriors fell to Minerva 227-236.
Max Feller was low for Carrollton with a 53. He was followed by Nick Abel with a 55, Derrick Hemming a 61 and Cree Ward and Noah Balint each a 67.
The Warriors were to be at Salem today.
Next week, they will host Canton South on Tuesday, travel to Louisville on Wednesday and host Minerva on Thursday.
