Minerva 63, Salem 39
The Lions’ Cody Parrish rushed for three scores and caught a TD pass in helping lead the Lions to a 63-39 win over host Salem last Friday night in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.

The win improved the Lions to 4-2 for the year and 2-1 in the NBC. Salem drops to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Parrish rushed for 161-yards on 17 attempts and hauled in a 13-yard scoring passed from senior quarterback Josey Riley.

Riley passed just three times in the game, but all three went for touchdowns. He also hit two bombs of 59 and 68 yards for touchdowns to Dalton Hartshorn.

For the Quakers, quarterback Matthew Weingart hit 24-of-44 passes for 321 yards and four touchdowns.

Minerva will host Louisville Friday night at 7 p.m.. Salem will be on the road at Marlington.

Malvern 42, Garaway 34
Malvern senior Cobin Plessinger keeps piling up the yards. In last Friday’s Inter-Valley Conference game at home against Garaway, Plessinger rushed 46 times for 246 yards as the Hornets improved to 5-1 on the season with a 42-34 win over the Pirates.

In the last two weeks, Plessinger has carried the ball 94 times for 510 yards.

Plessinger hit paydirt four times for the Hornets, while senior quarterback Trey Tucci added a pair of scores through the air.

He finished with 159-yards on a 7-of-11 night. He hit Mitchel Haasz on scoring strikes of 44 and 55-yards.

Connor Troyer had four scores for Garaway. He had touchdown catches of 91, 66 and 29-yards, plus returned a fumble 80-yards for another score. He finished with 10 catches for 299-yards.

The Hornets will be at Ridgewood Friday night.

Sandy Valley 31, Newcomerstown 14
Sandy Valley quarterback Lucas Dieffenbaugher scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to lead the Cardinals to a 31-14 win over host Newcomerstown last Friday night in an Inter-Valley Conference battle.

The Cardinals led 17-14 going into the final frame, but Dieffenbaugher scored on runs of 1 and 30-yards to seal the win. He also scored on a 1-yard run earlier in the game. Avery Elifritz added a defensive touchdown on a 96-yard fumble recovery for a score.

Dieffenbaugher also rushed 23 times for 179 yards.

With the win the Cardinals evened their record at 3-3 overall and remain undefeated in the IVC at 3-0.

The Trojans were led by Cody Hall with 120 yards on the ground and quarterback Austin Zuefelt hit 8-of-14 passes for 63 yards and a score.

The Cardinals will travel to Strasburg Friday night.

Steubenville Catholic Central 62 Conotton Valley 8
The undefeated and state-ranked Steubenville Catholic Central Crusaders jumped on the Rockets early and cruised to a 62-8 win over the visiting Rockets.

Steubenville led 56-0 at halftime.

The Rockets’ only touchdown came in the third quarter. No other details were available.
