Bell-Herron Middle School girls track falls to Canton South, but tops invitational field

FPS staff report

In Bell-Herron girls track action last week the girls team fell to host Canton South 62-52 last Wednesday.

Placing first for the Warriors were Hailey Wells in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:58; Alexis Murphy in the discus with a throw of 74’ 6”; Brenna Campbell in the shot put with a throw of 33-feet; Maddie Dunlap in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33; the 400-meter relay team of Kierra Gubesch, Kendal McFarland, Mikala Shafer and Kody Schandel with a time of 59.9; the 800-meter relay team of Gubesch, McKenna McClintock, Shafer and Ashley Lamp with a time of 2:02.1 and the 1,600-meter relay team of Gubesch, Riley Knotts, Shelbee Stidom and Dunlap with a time of 2:44.

Placing second were Maggie Beza in the discus; Wells in the high jump and Lamp in the 200-meter dash.

Placing third were Rachel Dowell in the 100 and 200-meter dashes; Schandel in the 100; Emmy Days in the 1,600; Dunlap in the 400; Amanda Barstow in the shot; Bree Keyser in the high jump and Wells in the 800.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Warriors hosted the Dan Wells Invitational at Community Field where they placed first with 125 points.

Placing first for the Warriors were Dunlap in the 800 and 1,600-meter runs with times of 2:35.6 and 5:38.5; Campbell in the shot and discus with throws of 35’2” and 78’2” and the 1,600-meter relay team of Gubesch, Knotts, Stidom and Dunlap with a time of 4:43.

Placing second was the 400-meter relay team of Gubesch, McFarland, Shafer and Schandel.

Placing third were Lamp in the 200; Wells in the high jump, 800 and 1,600; Dowell in the 100, 200 hurdles; Maggie Beza in the discus and the 800-meter relay team of Lamp, Keyser, Shafer and Schandel.

Placing fourth were Knotts in the 400; Stidom in the 200 hurdles; Rachel Bright in the high jump and McFarland in the long jump.

Placing fifth were Mackenzie Shroyer in the long jump and Schandel in the 100.

Placing sixth was Fair in the 400-meter dash.

The Warriors were to host Louisville Tuesday and take part in the NBC meet Wednesday.
