Malvern rolls over Sandy Valley 28-0

FPS staff report

The Malvern Hornets wrapped up the Inter-Valley Conference championship with their 28-0 win over host Sandy Valley last Friday night.

The Hornets, 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the IVC, will host a home playoff game this Saturday night at 7 p.m. against Caldwell.

Senior running back Cobin Plessinger carried the Hornets with 187-yards on 38 carries and scored three touchdowns on runs of three, five and one-yards.

Senior quarterback Trey Tucci had a solid game for the Hornets hitting 5-of-8 passes for 48 yards. He also rushed eight times for 19-yards and scored on a 1-yard run.

Mitchell Haasz had four catches for 30-yards to lead the Hornet receiving corps. He also had a pair of interceptions on defense.

The Malvern defense held the Cardinals to just 143 total yards.

Cardinal quarterback Lucas Dieffenbaugher led the Cardinals with 88-yards on the ground. He completed just 3-of-15 passes for 15-yards with three interceptions.

Pre-sale tickets for Saturday’s Malvern home playoff game against Caldwell are now on sale in the high school Athletic Office during regular school hours.

Tickets are $7 and $9 at the gate.
