Due to weather, it was a light week of action for the Carrollton boys track team.
The Warriors dual meet at Salem last Tuesday was postponed because of lightning and will be made up at a later date.
Last Saturday Carrollton took part in the annual Lidderdale Invitational at Sandy Valley High School.
The Warriors placed fifth out of nine teams with 61 points.
Junior Lynk Tranter had the Warriors’ only first place finish. He ran a 15.51 to win the 110 high hurdles.
Tranter also had a pair of second place finishes. He jumped 5’10” in the high jump and 20’3” in the long jump.
Also placing second for the Warriors were Tyler Dodd in the shot and discus with throws of 46’1” and 140’3.5” and senior Austin Wolford in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:47.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Austin Keefer, Joey Knipp, Wolford and John Brown placed fourth with a time of 9:05.86.
Placing fifth was Keefer in the long jump with a jump of 18’7.5”.
Placing sixth were Wolford in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:01; Noah Stertzbach in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.1; Knipp in the 3,200 with a time of 11:08; the 1,600-meter relay team of Keefer, Dan Leary, Stertzbach and Brown with a time of 3:51 and Justin Johnson in the shot put with a throw of 43’7”.
Fairless won the overall title with 98 points, Tusky Valley was second with 96, Sandy Valley third with 81 and New Philadelphia fourth with 77.
The Warriors were to host West Branch Tuesday night.
Next week, Carrollton will be at Alliance on Tuesday. On May 7, they will host Canton South and on May 14 the Warriors will be at Louisville.
The Northeastern Buckeye Conference championships will be May 17 at Marlington beginning at 4 p.m.
