Tickets available for Sept.1 Athletic Hall of Fame breakfast

FPS staff report

Breakfast tickets for the Carrollton High School Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2012 induction are now available.

Tickets for the Saturday, Sept. 1 breakfast to be held this year at the Carrollton Schools cafeteria at 9 a.m. are $15 each.

Five individuals and two teams will enter the Hall, according to Curt Hensley, organizer of the event.

Former multi-sport athletes Mike Albert, Jon Rinkes and Brian Scott, and former track and cross country standout Jeff Kirkpatrick will be honored, as well as former head golf coach Dave Wells.

Teams entering the Hall are the 1965 football team (8-1-1) coached by Don McBride, and the 1994-95 girls basketball team coached by Pepper Locke. That team finished the campaign with a 19-4 overall record, won the Sectional tournament and was District runner-up.

Inductees will be honored at halftime of the Carrollton-Edison football game on Aug. 31 at Community Stadium.

The Hall of Fame Committee said that any member of the two teams who RSVP by Aug. 1 will receive a special award at the banquet breakfast.
Honorees should be at the cafeteria prior to 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 1 for the taking of photos.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Carrollton High School Athletic Department at 330-627-8410 or by calling Hensley at 330-627-5135.

Individuals and family members planning to attend the banquet are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.
