Warriors fall to North Canton in final game of season

The Carrollton Lady Warriors closed out their regular season last Tuesday night with a 70-43 loss to a powerful North Canton Hoover team.

The Vikings improved to 20-2 for the season. They are ranked No. 5 in the state in Division I and Federal League champions.

The Warriors end an excellent season at 19-3 overall. They won the Northeastern Buckeye Conference with a perfect 14-0 record.

Carrollton looked good in the opening quarter, leading for much of it.

The game was tied at 14-14 after the opening frame, but the Vikings turned up the pressure and outscored the Warriors 17-4 for a 31-18 halftime lead. They increased their lead to 53-35 going into the final frame.

Sophomore Ali Poole led the Warriors with 16 points and six rebounds, while junior Rachel Devine added eight.

For the Vikings, senior Julie Worley led the way with 17 points. Senior Kaylee Stroemple added 13 and Kelsey Lensman 10.

The Vikings also won the junior varsity game 42-27.

Freshman Maddie Dunlap led the Warriors with 11 points.

The Warriors were to open tournament play Tuesday night at the Division II Union Local sectional against Meadowbrook.
