Lady Warriors split outings, now at 10-3

With 13 games in the books, the Carrollton Lady Warriors varsity basketball team has an overall record of 10-3 and is 5-2 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.

In the NBC, Louisville stands alone with an undefeated record of 8-0. West Branch is second and only has one league loss.

Last Wednesday night at Minerva, the game was close all the way as neither team had a lead of four points or more.

Minerva outscored the Warriors 19-15 in the final quarter to pull out a 54-52 win.

Carrollton led 13-12 after the first quarter, 21-19 at halftime and 37-35 going into the final frame.

Senior Taylor Lowdermilk led three Warriors in double figures with 14 points, while sophomore Monica Starre and freshman Ali Poole each added 11 points.

Each team finished with 30 rebounds. Starre led the Warriors with seven boards.

For the Lions, Lorin Clark led the way with a game-high 18 points, while Raychel Blocher added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

In the junior varsity game, the Lady Warriors downed the Lions 63-17 to improve to 11-1 for the year.

Carrollton led 16-4 after the first quarter, 34-7 at halftime and 53-13 after three quarters.

Schyler Fennimore led the Warriors with 18 points, while Abbey Wilson added 11.

Last Saturday afternoon, the Warriors were on the road at Marlington. Carrollton struck early and defeated the Dukes 50-30.

Starre led the Warriors with 14 points, while Lowdermilk and Rachel Devine each followed with 11 points each.

Carrollton led 14-11 after the first quarter and 19-13 at halftime. The Warriors put the game away in the second half, outscoring the Dukes 31-17.

Carrollton finished with 19 field goals and was 9-of-13 from the free throw line.

Marlington didn’t have any players score in double figures.

Carrollton was to host West Branch Monday night in a makeup game.

The Warriors will host Alliance Saturday afternoon.

Next week, they will be at Canton South on Tuesday and host Louisville on Saturday.
