Carrollton senior Joey Miller placed first for the Warriors’ wrestling team at last weekend’s Stichco Classic Wrestling Tournament held at Coshocton High School.
Miller (120) won all seven matches, six by pin, and was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.
As a team, the Warriors placed third out of 25 teams.
Sophomore Tyler Dodd (220) placed second with a 5-1 mark, junior Austin Miller (195) was third, winning seven matches, senior Jesse Young (106) was fifth with a 5-2 record, senior Tristan Stallard (145) was also fifth with a 5-3 record, and seniors Cody Stragan (138) and Dakota Maple (285) were 4-3 for the weekend. Maple placed sixth. Freshman Joey Knipp (132) was seventh with a 3-3 mark. Austin Brooks (152) and J. R. Hull (182) each finished with 3-3 records. Junior Jon Dunlap (160) was seventh with a 3-4 record.
Over the holiday break, the Warriors were at the Wheeling Park Duals in Wheeling, WV. where they placed ninth out of 34 teams with a 7-2 record.
Joey Miller went 9-0 in the tournament, while Connor Mosley went 8-1, Austin Bentley and Stallard each went 7-1, Young and Austin Miller each finished with 7-2 records and C. J. Brady won six matches and dropped three.
The Warriors will host Alliance Thursday night. They will be at West Branch next Thursday and take part in the annual Top Gun Tournament next Friday and Saturday at Alliance High School.
