|Carrollton's Addie Borland makes a return during action from the Carrollton/Minerva match last Tuesday night.
The Carrollton volleyball team wrapped up its 2013 regular season in impressive fashion.
The Lady Warriors rolled to two Northeastern Buckeye Conference wins and in doing so captured the NBC championship.
Carrollton ends with an outstanding regular season record of 19-3 and 11-1 in the NBC.
Last Tuesday, a very large crowd dressed mostly in pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, watched the Lady Warriors dismantle the visiting Minerva Lions in three sets 25-4, 25-24 and 25-17 to win the NBC championship outright.
Addie Borland led the Warriors with 25 points and eight aces, while Kelsey Voll finished with 25 assists.
Kady Davis recorded 17 digs and Roz Pridemore had three solo blocks.
For the Lions, Maddie Fischer led the defensive effort with 14 digs and 14 kills, while Jordan Diels had a solo block and Kelseigh Holderbaum 15 assists.
The loss dropped the Lions to 13-8 overall and 9-4 in the NBC.
Last Thursday in their final regular season match at Alliance, the Warriors took care of business in three short games, 25-7, 25-15 and 25-11.
Kady Davis was the Warriors top server with 13 points, including an ace. She also recorded 13 digs.
Borland recorded 12 kills, Voll 22 had assists and Pridemore came up with a pair of solo blocks.
Carrollton was to open tournament play Tuesday night at the St. Clairsville Division II sectional against Steubenville, Cambridge or Edison Local.
If victorious, the Warriors will play Saturday night in the upper bracket semifinal. The sectional championship game will be next Thursday at 6 p.m.
