The 2013 Carrollton High School boys cross country team will be young, but not without experience.
This year’s team has no seniors, but return six lettermen from last year’s team.
Returning are juniors John Brown, who has qualified for the State Meet the last two seasons; Andrew Knapp, who was honorable mention All-Northeastern Buckeye Conference in 2012; John Dunlap and Adam Kurtz.
Sophomores returning are Joey Knipp, who was All-NBC honorable mention last season as a freshman, and Luke Leslie.
Promising newcomers to this year’s team are junior Nathan Worth, sophomores Gabe Owens, James Smith, Jimmy O’Donnell and Nathan Stallman, and freshmen Cole Lovett, Quinton Huggett, Clay Pidgeon and Matt Keyser.
“We have a very formidable trio up front when the season truly matters,” said Head Coach Mike Aukerman. “The key will be developing our pack runners and getting the young guys to adapt to the training. We always run our best during the prime time, and this year will be no different.”
The Warriors will open their 2013 season Aug. 31 at the Newcomerstown Invitational. They will be at the Dover Invitational on Sept. 7 and take part in the Boardman Spartan Invitational on Sept. 14.
