FPS staff report
January 23, 2012
It was another nasty weather-shortened week for the Carrollton boys basketball team.
The Warriors did get in one game last week, a non-league contest at New Philadelphia.
However, last Friday’s Northeastern Buckeye Conference game at home against Louisville was postponed due to poor weather conditions. A make up date has not yet been set.
The Warriors played another strong game earlier last week, but fell to the 9-3 Quakers, 55-53.
Carrollton led 12-9 after the first quarter, but the Quakers came back in the second period to take a 25-24 advantage at halftime.
The game was tied at 36-36 going into the final frame.
Stephen Ericksen led the Warriors with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds. Andrew Collins followed with 15 points, including four three pointers.
The Warriors hit 21-of-38 action shots but only connected on 5-of-13 free throws.
Scott Kinsey led New Philadelphia with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Ethan Boose added 13 points and eight boards. Rob Miller also had 13 points for the Quakers, who hit 20-of-51 shots from the field and 11-of-17 free throws.
The Warriors were to host West Branch Tuesday and travel to Marlington Friday, before playing a makeup game at Minerva Saturday night.
Next week, Carrollton will be on the road at Salem on Friday.
