The Carrollton Lady Warriors used a balanced scoring attack and their strong pressure defense to roll over Northeastern Buckeye Conference rival Alliance 70-17 last Wednesday night at home.

The Warriors put the Aviators away early, leading 20-2 after the opening quarter and 38-6 at halftime.

Carrollton led 60-12 going into the final frame.

Sophomore Ali Poole led the Warriors with 16 points, while juniors Rachel Devine and Monica Starre each added 12 points and junior Savana Lowery nine points and eight rebounds.

Carrollton was 30-of-54 shooting and 6-of-7 from the line. They finished with 19 rebounds and 13 turnovers.

For the Aviators, who fell to 2-9 for the year and 1-6 in the NBC, Shania Mays led the way with six points and four rebounds, while Daljana Johnson added five points.

From the floor, the Aviators hit six of 23 shots and 5-of-13 free throws.

Last Saturday in a NBC contest at Marlington, the Warriors found the going much tougher.

The Dukes controlled most of the first half.

Carrollton didn’t get its first lead in the game until the 1:45 mark of the second period. After that it was all Warriors.

The Warriors outscored the Dukes 18-9 in the third quarter and rolled to a 63-45 win.

Marlington led 16-12 after the first quarter. Carrollton took a 30-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime and led 48-35 after three quarters of play.

Starre and Lowery led the Warriors with 15 points each, while Poole netted 13.

Ali Rodgers paced the Dukes with 16 points and Morgan Penird added 13.

In the junior varsity game, Bailey Plumley scored nine points and Sarah Donley eight to lead the Warriors to a 35-31 win over the Dukes.

The win improved the Warriors to 5-9 for the year.

Carrollton was to host West Branch Wednesday and United Local Saturday.

Next week, Carrollton will travel to Salem on Wednesday and host Canton South on Saturday.
