With over half of the 2012-13 girls basketball season in the books, the Carrollton Lady Warriors improved to 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference as they added two more wins last week.

Last Thursday, the Warriors hosted the Dover Tornadoes. The game was close throughout, but Carrollton prevailed, defeating the Tornadoes 64-60.

Sophomore Savana Lowery led the way for the Warriors with 17 points, and seven rebounds.

Senior Taylor Lowdermilk and freshman Ali Poole each added 11 points and freshman Monica Starre cashed in with 10 points, four assists and four steals.

The Warriors led 17-14 after the first quarter, 32-24 at halftime and 50-36 going into the fourth quarter of play.

Shooting, Carrollton hit 23-of-55 shots form the floor for 41 percent and 13-of-22 free throws for 59 percent. They finished with 29 rebounds and 20 turnovers.

For the Tornadoes, who fell to 3-7 for the year, they hit 24-of-54 action shots for 44 percent and 10-of-16 free throws for 62 percent. They had 25 rebounds and turned the ball over 26 times.

Moriah Monaco scored half of the Tornadoes points as she finished with 30. Sara Dummermuth added 17 points.

In the junior varsity game, the Warriors rolled over the Tornadoes 44-13. Mackenzie DeGarmo led the Warriors with 14 points, while Schyler Fennimore added eight points.

Last Saturday afternoon, the Warriors were on the road at Salem for a NBC contest.

The game was never really contested as Carrollton led 14-2 after the first quarter, 28-12 at the half and 53-25 after three quarters.

Poole led three Lady Warriors in double figures with 24 points, while Devine finished with 14 and Starre with 10. Kelsey Voll finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Warriors hit 29-of-57 shots from the floor and 7-of-8 free throws.

For the Lady Quakers, Megan Lehwalk led the way with 10 points, while Katherine Stiff added eight points.

Salem hit 15-of-47 action shots and 6-of-11 free throws.

The Warriors  held a 29-15 advantage on the boards.

Carrollton was to be at Minerva Wednesday night and will travel to Marlington on Saturday.

They will host West Branch on Monday in a make up game. They will host Alliance on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19.
