Mary Kean White scholarship recipients

FPS staff report

Kayla Walker, Kaitlyn Stoneman and Dulce Myers have been named the fourth, fifth and sixth recipients of the Mary Kean White scholarship.

All seniors at Carrollton High School, Kayla, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Debra Berry of 9351 Saber Rd., Scio, plans to pursue her education at West Liberty State College where she will major in elementary education.

Kaitlyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken (Kathy) Stoneman of 3108 Rebel Rd., Carrollton, will attend Muskingum College in New Concord, seeking a degree in middle childhood education.

Dulce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian (Kathy) Myers of 4467 Arrow Rd., Carrollton, will pursue her education at Malone College in Canton.

The scholarship was established in 2000 in memory of Mrs. White, a former teacher in the Carrollton and Malvern schools who died in 1999. Mary Kean White taught third grade for 30 years before retiring in 1986.

Criteria for scholarship applicants include that the applicant is a graduate of Carrollton or Malvern High Schools and enrolled as full time student pursuing a career in elementary education or a related field and have a financial need.

Applications are available each year from the Malvern and Carrollton schools guidance offices. Deadline for submission is April 1 of each year. Applications are to be mailed to MKW Scholarship, 2924 Highview Circle, Dellroy, OH 44620.
