February 20, 2007
Conotton Valley Union Local Schools Supt. Jeff Bleininger has announced that applications for the annual Edwin A. Preston scholarship, which will be awarded for the 2007-08 academic year, are available in the high school office.
Applicants should contact Judson Lada, guidance counselor, or Conotton Valley High School Principal Allen Kennedy for all applications which are due April 30.
This scholarship is available to Conotton Valley High School graduates based upon merit and need. Applicants will need to submit financial disclosure forms (FAF) available in the guidance office, plus a current transcript of grades and a completed application form. Incomplete applications will be disregarded by the committee.
Sometime before the end of the present school year the scholarship committee will decide on awards based upon (a) if all data is received, and (b) need and merit.
All data, including the application form, is to be returned to Conotton Valley Administrative office, Preston Scholarship, 21 Mound St., PO Box 187, Sherrodsville, OH 44675 by April 30.
The Edwin A. Preston Scholarship Fund was established in 1976 as a trust fund by Edwin A. Preston, a former Leesville area resident and businessman. Amount of the award can be up to $1,000 per year for tuition and fees for any one academic year. Final recipients are to be selected by the scholarship committee.
Supt. Bleininger said it is important for candidates to submit their material as early as possible. "Candidates may wish to renew their scholarships, but a complete application must be submitted," he explained. Current transcripts of grades and financial need must be sent in before the April 30 deadline. |
