Teacher contracts renewed

FPS staff report

Contracts of 18 teachers were approved for the 2007-08 school year by the Brown Local Board of Education at their April meeting.

Receiving 1-year contracts were Ben Baker, Tammy Bixler-Zalesinksy, Katie Foltz, Jessica Gotchall, Stephanie Shaffer, Lisa Hawkins, Alyson Lutz, Angie Miller, Gene Sechrest, Mike Slayman, Kelly Stutzman, Angie Swanson and Dennis Tucci.

Awarded 2-year contracts were Susan Anderson, Chris Essig, Dennis Printz, Tami Warner and Rhonda Zeedrich.

The Board also accepted the resignation of Angie Swanson, a 2nd grade teacher, due to moving to Indiana and voted to non-renew the contract of Bryan Gordon, a special education teacher, at the end of the 2006-07 school year due to non- completion of his certification.

In other action, the Board:
- APPROVED tuition reimbursement applications for Rebecca Kress and Dawn Kaufman.

- APPROVED  a list of 60 seniors for graduation set for May 27.
- ENTERED into a contract with Carroll Hills Industries for mowing and mulching around the school and administration office this summer at a cost not to exceed $1,600.

- APPROVED open enrollment for the 2007-08 school year with the application deadline being April 30.

- RENEWED the following classified staff for the 2007-08 school year: Randy McKnight, a bus driver who received a continuing contract; Cathy Clapper and Toni Haidet, both food service assistants, both 2-year contracts, and Dori Kapron, an elementary secretary, who also received a 2-year contract.

- APPROVED a five-year forecast showing a deficit of $715,000 in fiscal year 2011.

- APPROVED the following appropriation increases for the 2006-07 school year: Student Activities Council, $3,000; Elementary Principal’s Fund, $1,000; IDEA, $22,984.92; Title IV, $85.07; Title II-D, $19.52, and Title I, $8,841.38.

- APPROVED the payment of bills totaling $117,955.46.

- SET the next regular meeting for May 15 at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
