Several certified and classified contracts were awarded for the 2007-08 school year by the Sandy Valley Board of Education at its April 23 meeting.
Continuing certified contracts were issued to Renee Leslie and Allison Morris.
Receiving three-year limited certified contracts were Judith DiSabato and Brenda Lidderdale.
Awarded two-year limited certified contracts were: Julie Archual, Barry Busse, Heather Covert, Sarah Faiello, James Feicht, Cynthia Felix, Melissa Fete, Kelly Gamber, Peggy Gibbs (part-time), Tammie Hatalla, June Henderson (part time), Elizabeth Klingensmith, Renee Leslie, Kelly McDonald, James Morris, Brian Reidenbach, Harriet Robinson, Gigi Somerville, Jennifer Veigel and Joyce Warner. Issued one-year limited certificated contracts were Michael Aukerman, Carol Cox, Robert Graham, Lisa Grossi (part time), Paula Hagan, Suzanne Kail, Kristen Koelling, Elizabeth Lampe, Emily Lewis, Nancy Miller, Kerry Riesen, Sarah Schoeppner, Kerry Risen and Kelly Weaver.
Receiving one-year limited certificated contracts were Matthew Colvin, Nicole Grabrandt and Morgan Swinford.
One-year limited contracts for certificated tutors were issued Carole Bennett, Lora Graham, Nicholas Huskins, Catherine Heaston and Eileen Hermann.
Jann Coates received a one-year limited contract as an auxiliary tutor for St. James elementary school.
Continuing classified contracts were issued to Tracy Bolling, Doreen Swier.
Two-year classified contracts were awarded to Tojh Nicholson, Joni Neading, Kim Noble and Melody Roush.
A continuing contract was also issued to Pamela Colton as assistant treasurer.
In other action, the Board:
- ACCEPTED resignations from Karen Gorgas, high school foreign language teacher; Roger Herstine, Magnolia special education teacher, and Joni Richards, East Sparta part time custodian.
- NON-RENEWED the contract of Gwendolyn King, a bus driver, at the end of the 2006-07 school year.
- APPROVED a classified substitute contract for the 2006-07 school year for Tiffany Sakotas, food service.
- APPROVED the following students to attend Sandy Valley Local School for the 2006-07 school year through the open enrollment program: Jeff Ankrom and Roman Ankrom, both Carrollton Exempted; Joseph Jones, Brown Local, and Mason Smoot and Shelby Smoot, both Tusky Valley Local.
- APPROVED a resolution supporting the Getting It Right for Ohio's Future campaign in which signatures are currently being collected by a school committee for placing the issue on the November ballot.
- ACCEPTED the amounts and rates as determined by the Stark County Budget Commission, authorized the necessary tax levies and certified them to the Stark County auditor for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2007.
- INCREASED the 2006-07 permanent appropriations by $5,000 in the Principal's fund.
- APPROVED a revised 2007 foreign language and science course of study.
- ACCEPTED the donation of two 5x3-foot throws with pictures of Sandy Valley schools from the Magnolia Lions Club, represented by Jeff and Carol Snyder, which will be hung in Sandy Valley's two new school buildings.
- HELD a 1 1/2-hour executive session to discuss negotiations with the Sandy Valley Education Association whose current contract expires June 30.
- SET the next regular meeting for May 14 at 6 p.m. at East Sparta elementary school. |
