In a marathon school board meeting Friday morning, the Carrollton Board of Education “zipped” through a four-page agenda in a total of 5 minutes!

Beginning this school year (2009-2010), all students district-wide - with the exception of high school students in grades 9-12 - will eat pre-packed lunches and breakfasts.

With only three of the five board members in attendance - which constituted a quorum - the Board voted 3-0 to enter into a contract with Preferred Meal Systems, Inc., based in Berkeley, IL., at a cost of $1.545 for each lunch and .919 cents for each breakfast. Full story

Carroll MRDD board awards contract for updating heating and cooling system

A contract was approved to update the heating and cooling system at Carroll Hills School when the Carroll County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD) met June 19.

Henry Heating and Cooling of Dover was selected as the contractor to update the system at a cost of $100,586. The work is to be completed this summer.

Three new teachers and two new school administrators were hired by the Edison Local Board of Education at its June 18 meeting.

Employed for the 2009-2010 school year were Leah Snyder, English teacher; Dan Hartman, Title teacher, and Sara Evans, a Preschool teacher.

Ron Sismondo, a former administrator at Indian Creek Schools, was employed as principal at Stanton elementary school on a three-year contract at a salary of $77,500.

Stephanie Blundon was hired as assistant principal at Springfield-Stanton Middle School on a three-year contract at an annual salary of $64,000.
