Melissa Fletcher was re-elected president of the Carroll County Board of Developmental Disability (DD) at the Board’s reorganizational meeting Jan. 26.
Other officers re-elected for 2010 are Dolores Hudson, vice president, and John Miller, secretary.
The remaining members include Craig Rodgers, Jennifer Thomas, Angie Miller and Byron Fairclough.
During their regular meeting, the Board heard a presentation from Susie Frew, health education and public information officer for the Carroll County Health Department who gave a comprehensive explanation of the ideal tobacco free policy along with reasons to go tobacco free.
Board members learned School Supt. Matt Campbell and Mrs. Fletcher attended a joint board meeting in Stark County where representatives from Stark, Carroll, Richland, Summit, Hancock, Portage and Union counties, along with John Martin, director of the Ohio Department of DD, and Dan Ohler of the Ohio Association of County Boards of DD spoke.
According to Campbell, several issues faced by County Boards of DD were covered, including several service changes, and how to successfully handle such issues.
In other business, the Board:
- APPROVED revisions to the Personnel Policy and Procedures manual which included dissemination, safety and health, cell phone usage, hours of operation, code of ethics, tobacco policy and volunteers.
- REVIEWED and approved the 2010 annual Action Plan.
- LEARNED all seven Board members plan to attend the 2010 Ohio Association of County Boards of DD member training the evening of April 29 at the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center in Zanesville from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
- SET regular board meeting for the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the administration offices, 1182 Roswell Rd. with the next regular meeting being Feb. 25. |
