Two administrative positions and one teacher slot, which became effective at the beginning of the current school year, were endorsed by the Carrollton Board of Education at its Sept. 8 meeting.
They included a three-year contract for Mrs. Patricia Lamielle as Special Services director for the Carrollton Exempted Village School District. Mrs. Lamielle was formerly principal at Dellroy elementary school. Her new salary is $74,071.
The second administrative position endorsed by the Board was a two-year contract for Robert C. Dorety as principal at Dellroy elementary school at a salary of $69,617.
The third position approved by the Board was a one-year contract for Trisha M. Dillon who is a language arts teacher at Carrollton High School.
In other personnel appointments, the Board approved the following substitutes for the 2009-10 school year:
Teachers - Danielle E. Borsh-Vaughan, Victoria S. Casper, Thomas M. Cushing, Jana S. Davis, Corinne R. Houmard, Jessica L. Lafferty, Paula C. Patterson, Thomas L. Rothmund, John A. Stewart, Zachary P. Taylor, Julia L. Bober and Kathleen L. N. Taylor.
Classified - Beth A. Whitmer, Don T. Miller and Linda P. Hill.
Awarded supplemental contracts for the 2009-10 school year were Christopher Barto, Middle School boys 7th grade basketball coach, and Trisha M. Dillon, annual advisor (split).
In other action, the Board:
- ACCEPTED the resignation of Charles Castellucci as Middle School boys grade 7 basketball coach.
- APPROVED a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Network of Digital Schools and the Carrollton Exempted Village School District for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009.
- ACCEPTED three foreign exchange students at Carrollton High School who included Maria Montserrat Correa from Mexico, Dominika Lasakova from the Czech Republic and Ma Rui Du from China.
- DECLARED an intent to cooperate with the Ohio Mid Eastern Regional Education Services Agency for fiscal year 2010 at a cost of $100 per year for the Agency’s in-service program, 28 cents per student for the cooperative purchasing program and 25 cents per student for legal services.
- ENDORSED the guidelines for the Participant Conduct Code. In order to instill good sportsmanship and respect for rules and authority, the Code is designed to establish leadership, team pride, team work and team discipline and to eliminate disruptive influences, disturbances in the locker rooms, on the practice field and in the games.
- APPROVED the 2009-10 bus stops and delegated Phil Rutledge, Superintendent of Transportation to designate subsequent bus stops as necessary.
- GAVE the Treasurer Roxanne Mazur authority to calculate the set-aside amount of $343,484 according to House Bill 412.
- APPROVED a transfer of $28,000 from the general fund to the lunchroom fund.
- APPROVED the following advances from the general fund: $700 to Title IID, $2,600 to Title IIA, $2,050 to IDEA, $100 to IDEA ECO, $3,100 to Title IV Safe/Drug Free, $5,000 to Title I ARRA, $11,400 to Title 1 2010 and $22,200 to IDEA B ARRA.
- APPROVED the payment of bills totaling $606,183.06.
- HEARD reports from Phil Rutledge, Transportation supervisor; Kitty Weir, Food Services Supervisor, and Tricia Green, Bell-Herron Middle School principal.
- HEARD concerns from Dick Shotwell, a veteran who asked the Board to reimburse him the $1,200 bond he posted with the Carroll County Clerk of Courts for the filing of a complaint seeking an injunction to stop the June 29 sale of the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool. Shotwell’s concerns are published in a separate story.
- HEARD a concern from Michael Sommer, a parent, who asked why the window screens have not been replaced at Augusta elementary school where there is a bee problem. Following the Board meeting, School Supt. Palmer Fogler said new screens will be in place within two weeks.
- SET the next regular meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at Augusta elementary school. |
