Chosen as Students of the Month for September at Carrollton High School are Megan Dowell and Stephen Ericksen.
Daughter of Stephen and Jennifer Dowell of 329 Woodridge Dr., Carrollton, Megan is a 3-year member of the cheerleading squad and Chamber Chorus. She also is a member of the CHS Club and National Honor Society. She has a brother, Sam, who is a junior at CHS; and two sisters, Rachel, a 7th grader at Bell-Herron, and Jenna, age 4.
Upon graduation, Megan plans to attend Miami University at Oxford and major in biomedical engineering, and continue to dental school.
When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced her and why, Megan replied:
“My Dad because he has always taught me when faced with challenges in life to persevere and have faith, everything will be ok.”
In offering advice for success in life, Megan said: “Never stop believing in yourself!”
Ericksen, son of Lewis and Susan Ericksen of 6211 Fable Rd. SW, Sherrodsville, is a member of the National Honor Society and a 4-year member of the football and basketball teams at CHS. He has a brother, Chris, who is a college sophomore.
Upon graduation, Ericksen plans to attend The University of Akron and major in computer engineering.
When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced him and why, Ericksen said:
“My parents because they have always been there for me to guide me”.
In offering advice for success in life, Stephen said: “Never quit trying and never try quitting”.
As Students of the Month, both Megan and Stephen become eligible for a $500 scholarship to be awarded by McDonalds at the conclusion of the 2012-13 school year to one boy and one girl.
They also will have their pictures displayed in the showcase at CHS and will be treated to lunch by Carrollton High School Principal David Davis. |
