To the Editor:
Animal agriculture has been an important part of my life because of my involvement in 4-H and FFA. I am a nine-year member of 4-H and a four-year member of the FFA. During those years, I have raised and shown various types of poultry, rabbits and goats. As a 4-H and FFA member, I have learned how to properly care for animals and be concerned for their wellbeing.

Issue 2 will greatly affect both the 4-H and FFA organizations if it is not passed. A yes vote for Issue 2 is important for keeping agriculture in Ohio. There are more than 20,000 FFA members and more than 330,000 4-H members in Ohio. As you can see, there is a large percentage of Ohio’s youth involved in these organizations. Both of these organizations have had a huge impact on my life as well as other Ohio youth by teaching proper care for animals and many other skills to benefit us in a future career in agriculture.

If Issue 2 does not pass, the valuable animal lessons 4-H and FFA teach will eventually not be able to continue, thus leaving more than 350,000 youth to turn to other hobbies and interests. Make the obvious choice for Ohio’s youth on Nov. 3 and vote “yes” for Issue 2.

4-H and FFA Member
