To the Editor:
We would like to personally thank the community businesses that so graciously spent time with our kindergarten classes this month. We had many new experiences and saw things we’ve only heard of in a book!
A special thanks goes to Peggy Baxter and Liz Smith of the Carroll County Arts Center for giving us a tour and teaching us a real art lesson. A salute to Doyle Hawk and the staff at the courthouse for giving us a tour. Judge Johnston showed us how a real trial works! A pat on the back for the Sheriff’s Department staff showing us the jail and teaching us how important it is to make good choices. Kudos to Linda Shotwell at National City Bank for taking us into the vault and sending us off with goodie bags of pencils and suckers. Hats off to Targan Peterson and Cason Leggett from the Barber Shop on 9 for teaching us to use money to buy a wristband and comb as well as for gelling our hair. The boys looked so handsome! A round of applause to Tonya Carter of Hair Etc. who painted each girl’s nails and lotioned us up until we sparkled! A tip of the hat to Bruce Burgett and Dave Leggett for a walk through the feed mill and samples of corn, coloring books, stickers, balloons and suckers to enjoy. We’d also like to show our appreciation to Todd Davis, Judy Rutton and Jen Plank of the FFA Camp Natures Classroom for bringing in their wild birds to share with our class. There is nothing like seeing an owl close up.
We are so grateful for a community that supports its students in such a special way! We can’t thank you enough.
