Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
In response to a letter to the editor published Feb. 21 regarding the banning of gays in the Boy Scouts of America, why stop at banning gays? Why not also ban Hispanics, African Americans, Jews and people with special needs from joining? Why should this great organization only single out one group of citizens?

The truth is: for the last 100 years, there have been gay people in the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. Their memberships and contributions to the Scouts have helped to make them the fine organizations they are. Instead of the anti gay witch hunt that is happening, the Scouts should be trying to support and promote diversity among their numbers.

The country was founded on equality and freedom, this world on love.
