Letters to the Editor

Letter to Editor
As to the charge of "politics", I am not interested in the petty squabbles which give rise to the word. I am interested in achieving the people's greater benefit: Improvement and peace of mind (why constitutions are written)

Rhetoric: I mean, infusing anger into statements. It leads the people to respond to the weight of said emotion; thus, compels them to restrain from examining intent and worth of the subject.

So note, if I, occasional unleash; it stems from effort and energy of seeking more. It's proof of caring.

I failed to continuously expound the point of "why write a Constitution" (Charter) in this paper. (A 108 p. summary, which I hoped the community would read, was posted at the Library's website. A government "by the People...

"mandates the people acquire a certain amount of knowledge for ballot decisions. What's a few hours, for a lifetime of benefit?)

Said foremost reason: The people could define economics as a need; enforce the duty for development and sustainability onto whom it deemed, by Constitutional wording; thereby, ensure its implementation.

Infrastructure is ably-secured by economic tax-base. When a municipality clings to tax-scraps (proof by gripes), it will see far worse in years ahead. Carrollton's economic tax-base has been eroding for decades.

I stated, while petitioning, but failed to address in this paper: The summer of 2008 was projected to see $5 gallon gas. This is a commuting community. If 1/3 of your neighbors' houses foreclosure, can you say your current form of government serves you well?

Yes, education partially prepares for economics; but this county spends its education dollars on the tax coffers of other communities. Thousands have graduated and left. Who stays for the struggle to build and repair here?
Was your knowledge of Charter based on truth? Deceit is that which cannot be publically spoken; it is privately spoken. Privately spoken words cannot withstand public viewpoints.

As to the charge, "coerced": I didn't realize I was a mafia.

To suggest any vote be paid for: Believes neither in Freedom or Equality: The foundation of this Republic. Why war for Liberty in a foreign land, if there is no freedom to think or dream in one's own?

As to Mr. Yeager's charge (Aug. 27), "who says we want a Charter?": It's defined: Right to Associate and rights left unto the People. Ohio Courts have ruled, "Council has no authority to act in a judicial or quasi-judicial manner. Their mere duty is to verify the petition's signatures". Who instructed your counsel to retain the Charter petition (beyond Sept. 10th), justified, in his words to me, "to check on something". In my opinion, Government is created to serve the people, not hinder their needs.

As to Council's abuse of the Ohio Constitution: The petitions were submitted 72 days before Nov. 6. Article 18, section 7 mandates "if received 60 days prior, it is to be submitted to the general election".

As to (Former State Rep. Candidate) Randy Pope's statement at the Carroll County Republican Boosters, "It's (the Constitution) not difficult to read": If Constitutions were utterly clear, no state or federal court would have ever been split in their interpretations.

And finally, to Council's decision on the petition creating a law for widening the office of Mayor: Does the Constitution not direct that Charter language be approved by the voters? Then what difference to law does it make, if one piece (approved by 10% of the Governor's for ballot placement) is placed on the same ballot as the Charter question? It is the same process: voter approval. Some law is directed to be interpreted by rational basis. Was this not rational?

The epitome: Learn to recognize those who fight for you; and those who fight against you. Those who fight for you: Stake their reputations and invest great energy, for a wider vision of humanity. (Time ascribed by law is their only fallacy.) Those who fight against you: Ask you be content with little; while man was made to dream.
