To the Editor:
The HARCATUS Family Support Center in Carrollton would like to send a special thank you to Mrs. Mach’s French III class. The students comprised the winning class in our local blanket drive that was conducted in conjunction with Make A Difference Day activities in Carroll County Oct. 24. We also thank Mrs. Marteney and her Enriched Language Art students and Mrs. Brown/ Ms. McAbier’s Science I students who participate in the worthwhile event.

As a result of the students’ efforts, 111 blankets will be distributed this winter to low-income clients in the Carroll County area. Also supporting our efforts in the blanket drive were Dollar General Market, AmeriCorps VISTA, Kim Brown, several local volunteers and many Carroll County residents who donated blankets and made financial contributions. Connor McLean provided assistance on pickup day.

We would like to express our gratitude to St. Francis Xavier Church, St. Gabriel Church, St. Martin’s Lutheran Church and Malvern United Methodist Church for their continued support in our efforts to provide clothing and blankets to our clients.

HARCATUS Family Support Centers in Harrison, Carroll and Tuscarawas counties offer a variety of services and a wide range of advocacy and referral information for food, shelter and/or utilities, which include Case Management, State Home Energy Assistance Program, Percentage of Income Payment Plan, Winter and Summer Crisis programs  (Emergency HEAP) and the Ohio Benefit Bank.
