To the Editor:
Let’s set the record straight. The Loudon Township Trustees have been working diligently on various projects throughout the township. Grants are being written to subsidize the annual budget.

A Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for $31,000 for paving in Amsterdam and Kilgore was recently approved by the state of Ohio and Carroll County Commissioners. The money is basically free. There is no payback, there is no interest. The money is used strictly for the betterment of the community.

The former Kilgore School was purchased for $1 thanks to the cooperation of the school board, trustees and the newly formed Kilgore Community Committee. The building and property had an appraised value of $45,000 and had the Loudon Twp. Fire Department landlocked. Taxpayer money spent on this project to date is $199, which includes insurance on the garage ($121 annual premium), which is used exclusively to house seasonal equipment of the township.

All other bills are paid through the committee’s fundraisers and donations. These include electric, gas, insurance, maintenance and overall upkeep on the building and grounds.

Believe the facts, not the fiction.
