To the Editor:
When it comes to the cat and mouse games of choosing which political party is for the working man, I chose to refer to their votes, not their party.

After reading the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) report on the effects of cap and trade on the economy and job market, I know where Congressman Space stands with the working man by his vote.

The CBO reports that the Cap and Trade Bill (HR 2454) will reduce the number of jobs in industries that produce and or use carbon based energy. These industries includes coal mining, oil and gas extraction, chemical, petroleum refining, transportation and construction. The report states that the coal, gas, oil and transportation industries will suffer significant employment loss.

The CBO report also covers the bill’s financial effect on households. Not only will electric and gas costs increase but households will also bear an estimated 87 percent of the cost for companies to comply with this bill. The report goes into the effects on wages, price increases, the overall burden to households, job relocation, etc.

Oh, if it eases your mind any, it does report there may be some growth in service jobs, windmill manufacturing and solar energy sectors. Overall however, the negative impact of cap and trade is staggering.

Zack Space’s vote for Cap and Trade shows me where he stands when it comes to the working man and it is not with us.
