To the Editor:
On behalf of our members, it is with overwhelming gratitude we wish to thank the general public and our many volunteer members and friends for all their support, participation and continued belief in us by contributing items, purchasing items, and for all our dedicated volunteer’s help in various capacities for our 3-day rummage sale held over the Memorial Day weekend.
We wish to thank Larry and Kay Garner for
allowing us to hold our rummage sale at their auction barn once again. We generated over $2500 toward our project of building an animal shelter for Carroll County! The winner of the 50/50 was Mary Clark.
We also thank all the CCAPL members and friends for their monetary contributions toward the eat stand supplies and the “special bakers” for their delicious variety of baked goods.
We thank the following members for their monetary donations to cover the cost of all the advertising in the newspapers for our annual rummage sale: Donald Slates, Cathy Cawthorne, Lisa Walker-A New Creation Family Hair Care, Lisa Went, Fritz Ekstam, Steve Smith, Patricia Jacoby, Kim Mills-The Mills Family-Carrollton Ace Hardware, and Greg and Valorie Herman of Indiana.
The plans are completed for the grading of the animal shelter site and the parking lot area on our property. We have raised the money for this project phase through numerous fund-raisers and the generosity of the general public and member’s donations.
Bids will go out soon by Hettler Engineering, Inc. of North Canton. The two permits have been submitted to the Treasurer of State of Ohio by Mr. Hettler. One is for the earth-moving on our land (4901 Canton Rd.- St. Rt. 43 between Carrollton and Malvern), which we will be starting as soon as the bids come in and are voted upon by the Carroll County Animal Protection League’s Board of Directors.
The EPA permit is also being submitted at this time for the installation of the sewer system needed when the time comes to have this phase completed.
We have received a monetary grant gift from the John H. & Evelyn L. Ashton Preservation Foundation in the amount of $500 towards the gravel/limestone for the parking lot. We are waiting word from other grantors and resources as to their contributions. The estimated cost of the gravel is $7,500 and must be installed to avoid soil erosion.
We are researching any and all resources for funding to raise the $300,000 to build the animal shelter for Carroll County. This will be an asset to the community to save lives of unwanted pets. Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your cats and dogs to help reduce the overpopulation.
We meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Carrollton Friendship Center located at the Carroll County Fairgrounds at 6:30 p.m.
