To the Editor:
The Carroll County Animal Protection League (CCAPL), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization wishes to thank the general public for their grand support and donation of items for our annual three-day rummage sale held at Garner’s Auction Barn on Canyon Rd. over the Memorial Day weekend. What a successful event we had! Thanks Larry and Kay Garner for all you do for us.
We also want to thank our numerous and dedicated volunteers for working so hard to make this fundraiser such a grand success. All expenses were paid for by our members. The winner of the 50/50 raffle, Mr. Collins, donated his winnings back to us.
The CCAPL paid off the land mortgage balance of their property April 27 with $18,448.01 to Consumer’s National Bank of Carrollton. Because of this accomplishment, we will concentrate on applying the majority of proceeds of fundraising events to our animals shelter fund towards the construction of the “no-kill” animal shelter. We will not euthanize for space but only by recommendation of a veterinarian.
The animal shelter committee is working hard on finalizing the animal shelter plans to submit to the CCAPL’s board of directors for approval. Then, the shelter plans will be submitted to the state. Once approved, we will start Phase I of the construction on our property, located at 4901 Canton Rd. NW, Carrollton, and will continue onward as money is received. Any donations designated for the shelter go to the project.
We started our organization Jan. 18, 2007, and have accomplished so much in five years to get a greatly-needed animal shelter built for Carroll County to save lives of domestic animals which come under our care. We are devoted and dedicated to accomplishing this and look forward to its fruition. Check our website at www.ccapl.webs.com for our accomplishments, valuable information on our organization and other pertinent information, fundraising news and more.
The CCAPL meets the first Thursday of each month at the Carrollton Friendship Center (basement meeting room) at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
